Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to Presentation Secondary School, Ballyphehane
Thank you for your interest in sending your child to our school.
Presentation Secondary School is tremendously proud of its history, tradition and past achievements and it recognises the immense contribution of all those who have worked in the school since its foundation.
We place a huge emphasis on education and equally important to us is developing and nurturing the individual student with attention and care, empowering each one to develop their talents, abilities and skills to become the best person they can be. We offer a peer support structure whereby every 1st Year student has a 5th Year "Cara" (friend) who supports her/him in her transition to Presentation Secondary School.
We have a dedicated and dynamic group of teachers who are passionate about what they do. We have a positive and progressive school environment in a fantastic campus with excellent facilities.
We are a co-educational Catholic Voluntary Secondary School operating under the trusteeship of CEIST in the rich tradition of pioneering educator Nano Nagle.
Our School Board of Management includes representatives of the teaching body, parents and trustees. We work together to ensure that the school is resourced to allow each of our students to reach their full potential from an education and personal perspective through the provision of a rich and full curriculum.
The staff of Presentation Ballyphehane are focused on achieving teaching excellence through Continuous Professional Development - we have an in-house teaching and learning team committed to the highest standards of education. An academic monitor is assigned to each student sitting state exams to act as a guide and support during exam times.
As a DEIS school we have close links and support available to us from both UCC & MTU - which provide extra tuition hours and online academic support.
Our Guidance counsellor is on hand to guide and support students in terms of accessing the Higher Education Access Route (HEAR) and Disability Access Route To Education (DARE) schemes to support further education. We are proud that in 2020/21, over 83% of our Leaving Cert students progressed to further education colleges such as UCC, MTU & Mary Immaculate College.
If you require any further information, I would be delighted to answer any questions you may have.

Our Choir
All-Ireland winners
Although the present choir has changed since 2013, its success continues. As one spokesperson said “It is not every school choir that can maintain the exceptional standard to which these girls perform. Through the years, students come and go and choir members change but the exceptional standard remains. The tradition has been established and is respected”. Each student who performs in the Presentation Ballyphehane school choir knows what is expected of them and indeed, every member of the choir’s contribution is valued.
